"It
is not how Officer Waters died that made him a hero Officer Michael Waters, an officer with the West Memphis Police Department, was killed in the line duty on September 11, 2003. A day we were remembering the fallen heroes of 911. Officer Michael Waters, while engaged in a high-speed pursuit of three fleeing felons had a motor vehicle accident during the pursuit that took his life. Officer Waters was a dedicated officer who was respected by his fellow officers and the Department. He started his law enforcement career on August 1, 2001 with the West Memphis Police Department; he graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement training academy with honors in class 2001-D in Camden Arkansas. Officer Michael Waters was someone that was known to be the first one to back up another officer. Officer Michael Waters paid the ultimate sacrifice in protecting his city and his community. Officer Waters loved his profession being a police officer and was loved by those he served. His wife Jennifer Waters, his mother and father Rocky and Rosa Waters and all of his brothers and sisters in law enforcement in the City of West Memphis and across this great country survived Officer Waters. We will truly miss him. "Blessed
are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God."
